StoryMatters is a charity in South London that aims to show that creativity is not an innate talent but a skill that can be taught, practised and developed.

Our workshops are designed to give young people a chance to try out different creative techniques and forms with a focus on having fun during the process.

Public workshops are run at cost price and are not for profit.

Our workshops can help young people to:

Who are we?

  • Steven Sobolewski

    FOUNDER

    Steven Sobolewski, founder of StoryMatters, is a poet, writer and tech consultant with two years of teaching assistant experience in South London primary schools. He holds a first-class degree in Creative Writing from Birkbeck College, University of London, where he was honoured with the Michael Donaghy Prize for Poetry. Steve has volunteered in educational institutions across London working with children from a wide range of backgrounds. In Sydney, Australia, Steve helped to facilitate Creative Writing workshops at several primary schools with the Sydney Story Factory. He firmly believes that everyone has the potential to tell amazing stories.
